Turkey…

Steeped in history and full of flavour.

Mary first visited Turkey in the early 70s, when the Nomadic tribes barbequed goat in the desert and the fairy chimneys of Goreme were deserted.

Now you can stay in one of those fairy chimneys and feast on delicacies still enjoyed by the locals.

Turkey's food markets are a delight for the eyes as well as the taste buds. The colourful displays of fresh exotic fruits and vegetables will mesmerize you and the honeycomb will be the sweetest you have ever tasted..

New Zealand history comes to life in Gallipoli with a visit to Anzac Cove and Chunuk Bair. Roman history is still being exposed in Efes where the terrace houses are changing daily as the jigsaw of mosaic tiles reaches completion. The southern end of the Aegean is the perfect place to board a gulet, a traditional  wooden yacht.

'Mary’s promise: a fabulous food or intriguing history experience every day; usually both and often more than one.

Food Matters Tours: through focus on food, an insight in to another's world.
